"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,

Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the mossed cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimmed their clammy cell."

              -Excerpt from John Keats, To Autumn, 1820
Autumn at Cedar Hill is a thing that no words can describe. The colors, the moist cool air, and the peaceful rolling fog that settles on the land like a warm blanket is breathtaking. You must take a walk through the meadow that divides the hill from the fields. The sweeping, undeveloped land will settle your heart and soul. Taking a  stroll down the cedar lined drive, your mind wanders to days long ago.  You can imagine the wagons, the horses, and the first settlers of our great nation building a life on this newfound land.  Cedar Hill was constructed some 60 years before America declared it's independence.  Many generations have walked these hills and breathed in this cool autumn breeze.  I suspect it has been a thing of beauty, appreciated by all, for many many years.  I can envision the first lady of Cedar Hill absorbing her new surroundings and pointing to the hill to say "There... our home will be there..."  And so it was... Thank you for that gift.
Cedar Hill is privately owned and operated and shown by appointment only. To schedule your next event, please contact Christina at 240-587-1687.  Book your Autumn 2018 wedding now and experience what you see here on your special day!

    I read somewhere that with a home that holds so much history, it is impossible to own it.  You are simply chosen by time as it's guardian for a brief moment.  Entrusted with it's history and all it's glory.  We were chosen for this season of Cedar Hill's life.  We will love it, we will tell it's story, and cherish it for however long it is left in our hands.
